This week, we’re looking at the average ages of CEOs across several indices. In a thoroughly unsurprising turn of events, most CEOs are between the ages of 51 and 55.
However, BoardEx revealed a series of surprising data points. For instance, while Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook Inc. (FB) is the youngest CEO in the S&P 500, the second-youngest CEO in the index is 39 year-old Conor Flynn of Kimco Realty Corp. (KIM). Flynn and Zuckerberg are the only two CEOs in the S&P 500 under 40.
Elsewhere, in Japan’s NIKKEI 225, the average CEO is roughly 65 years old — making Japan the country with the oldest average CEO. The youngest average CEO is about 54 in the UK’s FTSE 350.
